Artist Statement

Ray Parker
I always had a passion to draw and paint. I started displaying my talents when I was a young and shy boy growing up in Providence, Rhode Island. I had a vivid imagination and creative mind that allowed me to create beautiful pieces of artwork. After completing high school, I joined the Navy. I had traded my pencils and paintbrushes for a tool box, as I learned a trade and served my country. I became an Engineer during my military service. Over the years, I focused on my career and stopped drawing/painting. Approximately 10 years ago, I started to draw again because I had spare time and had missed what I’d loved doing. I attended the WallKill River School and brushed up on my art skills. I appreciated the advice, tips, and different techniques I had acquired there. I am truly grateful to have attended such a fine and wonderful school that was filled with talented teachers. I am thankful for the opportunities they afforded me. I humbly and proudly show my artwork so that others can see the gift I was blessed with.
